![]() ![]() That's a lot of messing around if you need to quickly retrieve or stash something, especially multiple times during the day. Access to gear is clumsy - you have to unbuckle two buckles then loosen the drawstring to open, then cinch up the draw string and buckle the two buckles again. Small pouches and other things just get tossed and tumbled if you're running about all day long.Ģ) They're top loaders which I hate. The structureless bag also offers little help for organization. I wouldn't causally toss this bag around on hard surfaces, that's how my new Klean Kanteen got dented. I also have the Camelbak Arete which you might look into for comparison its another great UL back but comes with hydration system.ġ) Being UL, they're floppy and saggy when not full and provide little protection to breakable gear. Great for day tripping in hot humid climates like Southeast Asia. I stuff mine into my Osprey Aether 70L backpack to use for day hikes from basecamp, and also throw into luggage for travel. Love that they're ultra light and super packable but still tough (relatively speaking). The designs have small improvements but otherwise essentially the same. I've looked at the new Marmot Kompressor line at REI a few months ago and happy to see that they have maintained the high quality build of the packs. For years I've used the original Kompressor 18 when it was still made by Dana Designs, which was subsequently acquired by Marmot. ![]()
